Mr.President, If you expect cadets to stay awake, bring Starbucks next time

President Obama addressed the nation tonight from West Point, apparently presidential speeches are old hat at west point, since a cadet was seen falling asleep during the presidents speech.

Obama really is to blame here, he should know better than to address cadets at 8pm EST, when they have to get up at the crack of dawn and go through intense training, so that they can protect our ungrateful overweight asses.

Exactly right. Good point about tomorrow. But it was flat. As apparently, Iran and Pakistan think he is.

Yeah, I saw numerous Cadets falling asleep. While his speech was mediocre, their lack of discipline is unacceptable. The Seniors at West Point ought to review some of the footage and I.D. those lazy Cadets and correct their deficiency.

i disagree with the speech being mediocre. I’m beginning to think that maybe you guys/gals were asleep as well. He eloquently presented his stance and provided a convincing reasoning for deploying more armies to Afghanistan. May be you Americans (which I’m sensing you are : P) lost him as he spoke as a humanitarian rather then a dictator.

Actually, I’m an Old Corps Cadet myself, and I understand these guys falling asleep. My typical semester there was over 20 academic hours, then you tack on the physical, and the military work you do as well, which isn’t included in the academic hours. My average amount of sleep each night was under 6 hours, so you should understand these guys falling asleep once they sit down. And so you know, that sort of thing is a running joke amongst the Old Grads. We don’t think he should be punished, ridiculed or given a hard time maybe, but not punished. I can tell you, he’s working harder than any college student in America and not complaining about it. If he falls asleep, he falls asleep, so what, let him be.

It seemed that every time the camera cut to a shot of the cadets, you could see at least one cadet nodding off. I should have kept count, but it had to be at least 10 of them falling asleep. One girl nodded off while the camera was zoomed in on her face!
